The 32nd ASM’s Sixth Plenary Session: Assessment of Gains and Remaining Challenges on MDG #3Â
The National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Philippines recently held its 32nd Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) on July 14 and 15, 2010 at The Manila Hotel. Taking on the theme MDGs and Beyond: Are We Making Progress?, this year’s ASM hosted six plenary sessions that tackled in detail the status of the Philippines with regard to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) set by the United Nations in 2000. The ASM aimed to develop resolutions and recommendations on appropriate interventions for the Philippine government and the private sector to hasten or improve the achievement of the said MDGs. |

PERLA D. SANTOS OCAMPO IS PROCLAIMED NATIONAL SCIENTIST
             The latest to join the august roster of National Scientists of the country is Dr. Perla D. Santos Ocampo through Proclamation No. 2099 issued by Malacañang on June 23, 2010. This is the highest honor the Philippine Government can bestow on a Filipino scientist for his/her outstanding contributions to science and technology. Dr. Santos Ocampo is recognized for her excellent contributions as scientist in the field of pediatrics, as medical educator-leader and mentor, institution builder and advocate for the better health of the Filipino people, particularly, the children.
